How have you been?..
I’m happy but SORED!
As you guys know, I’ve been training everyday in the gym for the Spartan Race.. Well, I have to say that all that pain and effort paid back!!
On Saturday the 19th of March, my husband, my mom and I drove to Lettefield (AZ), to finally participate in the Super Spartan Race!
I woke up at 6AM and forced myself to have a big breakfast to have enough energy to go through 9+ miles and 29 obstacles!
I had a cup of cereals, 1 chicken breast, 2 apples, 3 oat cookies and a mixed salad with a huge glass of orange juice.. I was so full lol!
It took us 1h 40min to arrive and the adrenaline was growing every mile we were getting closer!
My husband decided not to participate, so only my mom and I registered at the entrance and finally got out number.. mine was 5986.
The energy was in the air! There were people exercising, shops, loud music.. I was so pumped! I couldn’t wait to start!
We had to wait 2 hours for our round to depart.. It was so hot that I almost quit before the beginning lol!!!!!
Finally, after some spartan shopping and 2 smoothies, we were ready in almost front line.
Batteries of 250+ people started every 15 minutes, but we all had a wrist that captured our time to then have the final chart.
I started running and never stopped.
I have never participated before to nothing similar so I didn’t know what to expect. I wasn’t event sure I was gonna make it to the end… Imagine my satisfaction when I found out I arrived 3rd in the age range 20-24!!!!!
The obstacles were the toughest part.. i’m used to spend ours at the gym doing cardio exercises, but my core strength is not well trained..
If you weren’t able to complete an obstacle you had to do 30 burpess.. I had to do 90 burpees to keep going lol!
I hate monkey bars!!!!!!!
I ran for the whole 9 miles, I was terrified to give up if I had walked.
My mom and I started together but I passed her by mile 2.. I was determined to beat a personal record..
Along the road, I “met” a lot of fun people, I helped and got helped, I laughed a lot and got immersed in mud (yes, even my head).
I had no idea what time it was or how many miles till the end.. I just kept running repeating in my head “you’re a beast” (lol).
I can’t describe the feeling when I saw the FINISH sign in front of me!
It gave me even more adrenaline to the point that I wanted to keep going!!!
My husband was waiting for me at the finish line.. My legs were shaking.. I was hyperactive.. I couldn’t stop!!
After 12 minutes my mom arrived too.
We were so full of adrenaline that we didn’t feel the exhaustion… BUT THAT DIDN’T LAST.
We were covered and mud from head to toe! We took a shower there, put new clothes on and drove back to Vegas.
My body was very bored the day after.. especially my knees.
The morning after I woke up at 4 am and started doing stretching in bed!
That’s probably why I am able to walk today lol!
I am so happy to be able to share with you this experience, I really recommend you to participate in one spartan race!
It was a blast participating with my mom! You definitely need a buddy or a group.. It’s just more fun!
I am very proud of my result but I am a perfectionist..
I am already training for my next Spartan race…
Do you want to come with me? ..
Know your limits… To BREAK THEM!!!
